A Vietnam post that covers them all. There are as many trips as there are travelers and as many levels of organization as there are people. As you know, I am one of those who looks little and flows a lot, but I also like to gather good information about the destinations I visit to help my readers. And that’s the goal of this article with tips for traveling to the Vietnamese country.
To make this publication of the Vietnamese guide as complete as possible about this destination I wanted to get close to Alberto Gallego, responsible for the blog About Vietnam. He is a great connoisseur of this country and will give us first-hand information. So I’ll leave you with him, although I’m going to be close by.
Its capital is Hanoi, one of the best preserved jewels of the whole Asian continent, while Ho Chi Minh City is the other big city of the country. But its attractions go far beyond that. Cities like the imperial Hue or the beautiful Hoi An; natural attractions such as the Mekong Delta, Halong Bay or Sapa and islands like Phu Quoc or Cat Ba make up a country of infinite attractions. How to organize a trip to Vietnam?
There are 54 ethnic groups living together in the country. Among them, the Viet (or Kinh) account for approximately 88% of the national population of 92.7 million (2016). The hospitality and industriousness of the Vietnamese are characteristic attributes, recognized worldwide. In addition to its people, Vietnam’s landscapes are breathtaking and numerous of them have been declared as World Heritage Sites (Halong Bay, Thang Long Imperial City, Ho Dynasty Citadel, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Hue, Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary, Trang An Scenic Complex), form an ideal tourist destination for international travelers.
The most suitable time to travel to Vietnam is in April. At that time, the weather is pleasant throughout the country, although due to its tropical location, the weather in each region is noticeably different:
– Nha Trang: Nha Trang Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Vietnam that tourists visit on their trips to Vietnam. With a length of about 7 km, you will find a magnificent natural scenery. You can dive into the blue water, lie on the fine sand listening to the sound of the waves, walk along the beach or watch the sunrise and sunset. Visit Nha Trang between May and September to enjoy the sun shining all day long.
WHAT TO VISIT in VIETNAM: north, center and south!
Hanoi, a vibrant city of about eight million inhabitants, was already the capital during the French colony and later became the capital of North Vietnam. The ‘city between two rivers’, as its name dictates, retains the heritage of that history in its elegant colonial buildings, pagodas and communist-era buildings in a way that time has only improved.
The 11th century Temple of Literature, dedicated to Confucius and home to the country’s first university, the Ho Chi Minh’s memorial and mausoleum, the Opera House and puppet shows are just some of the many attractions that Hanoi has to offer. You have to get used to the traffic and enjoy it, though. In Hanoi, everything from party girls to old men laden with packages ride their motorcycles with little disturbance. In fact, of the city’s 8 million inhabitants, 6 have motorcycles. That’s nothing.
Halong Bay in the Gulf of Tonkin is, since 2011, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It is a natural formation of spectacular beauty, full of islets with karst formations, vegetation and traditional boats … This unique bay, which you travel aboard a junk in which you spend the night, will offer you a vision of the country sublimated when you wake up to see the sunrise. Halong Bay is also a place steeped in recent history, as it was here that the US accused North Vietnamese forces of attacking two American destroyers, which triggered the Vietnam War.
