Attention: Julia was in Tajikistan on her way to Mongolia by motorcycle. Her first quarter was spent riding through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, all the way to Ulaanbaatar. Take that!
Even so, it is always necessary to take travel insurance to cover any unforeseen eventuality. RACC, Medifiact, Intermundial, Chapka Assurance, Adeslas or Iati are the ones chosen by our pregnant travelers.
Almudena had to sacrifice a sailing trip in Milos because they didn’t accept pregnant women, which didn’t stop her from going around Santorini on a quad bike and getting into every goat track she could find in Italy.
If I had to choose an explanation, I would say that people tend to try to infect you with their fears. And in pregnancy… they beat us, because for us (especially if you are a first timer) it is something new and uncertain.
Normally when no one around you objects or tells you anything, it’s because you know you’re not going to listen to them… although Julia, for example, decided to avoid “unwanted advice” until she finished her motorcycle trip in Asia.
Traveling pregnant to thailand
Mozambique. This was the trip I had in my head around October. Maputo Bay was waiting for me in August. But one day, when you least expect it, things change and you find out that you are pregnant… and what’s more, it’s M E L L I Z O S!
Don’t panic! Let’s take it one step at a time. It is obvious that travel will no longer be the same and that we will have to make some changes in routes, luggage and planning. But the traveling spirit is still there, that doesn’t change. Based on the fact that this is the way I am, a traveler and curious, I will have to integrate this new facet of mouse mother with my role as a mouse traveler.
My second best option is to travel by car, you know I’m a big fan of road trips. If the pregnant trip is going to be by car, remember to stop frequently, every 150km, to stretch your legs or drink water. I recommend you to get a special seat belt for pregnant women, to avoid the pressure of the belt on your belly, in case you have a bump. I am very happy with it.
Places to visit while pregnant
The most advisable time of pregnancy to take a trip is the second trimester, since before the twelfth week nausea and vomiting will be too important for you to fully enjoy the trip. After 28 weeks it is not advisable to go to places where medical care is not guaranteed. Also, it is best not to travel if you have had any complications during pregnancy.
Before traveling there are a number of necessary formalities to be carried out. First of all, it is necessary to have a health check-up. Every woman and every pregnancy is different, so it is advisable to consult your doctor or midwife about your desire to travel. They will advise you on the medications you can or cannot take, what to do with vaccinations and how to prevent diseases. It is also a good idea to ask for your medical history with details of your pregnancy and blood type.
During the trip keep in mind that it is important to stay hydrated, but it is not advisable to drink carbonated beverages, as well as heavy foods high in fat. To make the trip as pleasant as possible, pamper your legs with massages every 90 minutes to prevent them from swelling due to poor circulation.
Travel to vietnam while pregnant 2021
If we add to all this the access to that inexhaustible source of knowledge (but also of ignorance) that is the Internet, it is easy to fill our heads with fears about what cannot/should not be done during pregnancy. We want to live with a clear conscience and we repeat phrases such as “I don’t know if this is true, but I’m not going to let it go”, “I’m going to do everything in my power”, “it’s only 9 months…”. Phrases that often lead us to stop doing things that make us happy for fear of the consequences, for example: stop traveling. However, the information manual for pregnant women provided by the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Madrid makes this very clear in one of its points:
“Travel in general is not contraindicated. It is not advisable to travel to places where health services are scarce. Towards the end of gestation, it is recommended to avoid long trips. Air travel is not contraindicated”.
We are among those who faithfully believe in the benefits of travel at all levels and, although depending on the stage of pregnancy it is necessary to adapt the type of trip that can be made and avoid certain destinations, this does not mean that in a normal pregnancy, travel is contraindicated.
