Most beautiful places in Spain

The options are reduced to two: Portugal and France. Our neighboring countries have cities and towns to discover that are not so far away and that allow us to enjoy a trip nearby but equally very interesting.

In the case of France we have selected towns in the south and in the case of Portugal we have skipped the Algarve (which is beautiful but better known) and we have focused on the middle and north of the country.

The town of Sintra is only 30 km from Lisbon and six hours drive from Madrid. It has places as essential as the Pena Palace, the Castelo dos Mouros or the Quinta da Regaleira. Beautiful palaces surrounded by manicured gardens that will make you think you are in a princess fairy tale.

Considered one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Portugal and declared a World Heritage Site, it is a must to get lost in. It is only half an hour from Porto and its cobblestone streets and historic buildings will make you feel like you are in another era.

Founded by the Romans in 16 BC, it is one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. It is located near Vigo, about 5 and a half hours from Madrid by car and has a rich architectural, archaeological and cultural heritage. More than 40 baroque churches, museums and other historical buildings to get lost in.

Spain to portugal by plane

Here I tell you which ones, but keep in mind that I will be publishing during these weeks the posts, explaining in detail each of the destinations, each of the accommodations and each of the activities and excursions made during these intense 12 days. What do you think if for now I give you some clues, here they go:

Take advantage of the fact that the beginning of our Road Trip coincides in dates with the Brihuega Festival (July 19 and 20), to visit it and discover, of course, the famous Lavender Fields. And in between, there was also space for a very curious museum.

Enjoy during 7 nights and days, its beaches, its villages, its climate, its tasty gastronomy and the friendliness of its people. I only needed to travel to the south of our neighboring country, and we did it. More than achieved, Algarve has been a destination that has surprised me a lot, which I come in love and I will return for sure. We love traveling to Portugal.

I have a million things to tell you about the Algarve, such as which beaches I liked the most, which towns or cities you can’t miss, what kind of activities you can do with your children or where you can eat delicious food.

If you want to visit Italy at low cost, bet on Bologna, there are always many Easter offers. Considered the second largest medieval town in Europe, it is ideal to spend a few days with the whole family. Do not miss walking up to the sanctuary of San Luca and enjoy the wonderful views and do some shopping in its Mercato delle Erbe. You can also take the opportunity to visit Parma, Ferrera, Modena and Reggio Emilia, they are very close.

Although we all associate France with glamour and money, Nice is one of the destinations with the cheapest flights. Plus, it has plenty of free activities. Stroll through the flower market or the Promenade des Anglais, climb the Castle Hill, don’t miss the Matisse Museum and don’t forget to try the delicious Socca.

Liverpool is different from London and perfect for a sibling trip, as it has many attractions, in fact, it was European Capital of Culture in 2008. Visit the Albert Dock complex, declared a World Heritage Site for housing the largest number of buildings in the U.K., The Cavern and The Beatles Story and to relax Sefton Park.
