Can I travel to the U.S. in 2021? Do I need an ESTA?

Under the ESTA regulations that went into effect on August 1, 2008, international travelers traveling to the United States must apply for a travel authorization as soon as possible, but no less than 72 hours prior to the departure of their international flight.

Due to changes in ESTA application processing, real-time approvals will no longer be available. Passengers who apply on the same day as their flight departure risk not having an ESTA approved prior to departure. International travelers without ESTA approval will not be able to board their flight to the United States.

The information is in the official languages of the 34 countries included in the U.S. list. These are the countries whose citizens do not need a visa to enter the U.S. for a stay of no more than 90 days.

Travelers will also have to submit an affidavit stating that the information provided is true. Foreign travelers must have a complete vaccination schedule and provide documentation of their vaccination status before boarding the plane.
