Nowadays we are used to travel everywhere by plane, but we must not forget other types of travel, such as road travel, in which the destination is not the most important thing, but the journey itself… Because traveling by car is par excellence synonymous with freedom, freedom to change course when you feel like it, freedom to stop when you need to, stretch your legs or admire the scenery.
Get your car ready and fill up the tank: you will have hundreds of kilometers and more than a week ahead of you if you opt for this route that crosses four different regions: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia. None of them will disappoint you.
“En un lugar de La Mancha, de cuyo nombre de cuyo nombre no puedo acordarme” is the perfect route if you are a lover of history and literature. We are going to Castilla-La Mancha to relive the pages of the most famous battle of Don Quixote in which the nobleman confused the windmills with dangerous giants.
This tour will take you several days to travel, so you will have to consider where to stay. For example, on the way you could stop at the places that preserve the most windmills, such as Campo de Criptana, Herencia, Consuegra and, in particular, Mota del Cuervo. It will be easy to guess why this town has the nickname of El balcón de la Mancha: from here you can enjoy breathtaking postcard panoramas over the plains of Don Quixote.
