Every Friday evening at 6pm they do a free comedy hour at the Brisbane Powerhouse. It’s a very fun and recommended event in the New Farm neighborhood. And even if your level of English is not high, the more you listen to it and the more you practice it the better, so don’t hesitate to stop by and enjoy it.
Brisbane City Hall was the tallest building in the city until 1960. It is one of the oldest buildings, and is said to be one of the most beautiful city halls in the whole country. When winter comes, they put ice skating rinks in the square, and it’s a lot of fun. The building can be visited inside, but something that not many know is that there is an elevator that goes up to the top of the tower from which you have a breathtaking view and it is absolutely free (Hours: every day from 10am to 5pm).
One of my favorite things to do on spring evenings, used to be to meet a group of girlfriends at New Farm park for lunch. The park is huge, and it’s right on the river, which makes it a super relaxing place. We would bring a couple of sandwiches from home, fruit and a blanket to sit on. Some days we would sit under a tree in the shade and others we would lie in the sun. It’s a perfect plan to enjoy a Sunday
It is worth mentioning that if you want to see animals that you will only see in Australia, in just 5 hours by car you can find them all. You can see turtle eggs hatching in Bundaberg, watch wild dingoes in Fraser Island, dive with whales in Mooloolaba, see wild kangaroos at sunset in Stradbroke Island or swim with sharks in the Julian Rocks of Byron Bay. It won’t seem like much!
As we have said, one of the main advantages of this city is its climate. Forget the cold forever and get ready to enjoy the outdoors every day of the week. During the summer months (December, January and February) the average temperatures range from 20Cº minimum and 35Cº maximum. And get ready to get up early! Because the sun rises at 4:45 am.
What about winter? We’ve talked about it before. It’s more like spring. During June, July and August the average temperatures are 10Cº minimum and 20Cº maximum, sunrise at 6:45 am and sunset at 5:30 pm.
The Go Card, or what is the same, the card for the transport of Brisbane, you have to pass it through the reader when entering and, remember, also when leaving. Failure to do so will result in you being charged for the longer journey.
The answer to this question is a bit complicated since everyone has specific needs, things you can do without and things that are essential. As for clothes, you should take into account the time of the year you arrive, your destination city and how long you are going to stay.
This is an editable Excel where you will find all the items you might need in Australia. With this list you are sure not to leave anything behind! But don’t take everything with you because you won’t be able to close your suitcase!
Sydney has the reputation of being an expensive city, but that doesn’t mean you should bring your entire closet. In the city there are second hand markets, such as Glebe Market, or stores like K-Mart, where you will always find good deals to buy what you need.
In any case, we recommend that regardless of the month in which you start your adventure in Brisbane, you also bring a couple of sweatshirts and a coat in case you intend to travel south.
Don’t forget that handy umbrella that fits anywhere, because summer or winter, you’ll need it. In the cold months the day usually starts cloudy and cold (bring a coat) and then clears up or not, but what is usually not missing is the rain and the drop in temperatures.

There are daily flights to major Australian cities and state capitals. There is also fluid communication with East Asia, Europe, North America and neighboring New Zealand. Less common but also existing are flights to regional capitals. The main operators are Qantas, Jetstar (low cost) and Virgin Australia. There are two terminals, International and Domestic but they do not always live up to their name.
Distances can be very long but it is possible to rent a car or share one. Highways A1, M1, M2, A2, A15 reach the city. The coastal road is usually the most beautiful but also the slowest.
