During the 2016 Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, to bolster tourism, Brazil temporarily eliminated the visa requirement for travelers from the four countries that are now exempt from it.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows citizens of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business (the purpose of visitor visas) for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Not all countries participate in the VWP, and not all travelers from countries covered by the VWP are eligible for the program.
