Here’s a guide to Tenerife’s top water attractions. To discover more about holidays to Tenerife visit here.
Bajamar
Lying just next to a beautiful sand beach by the harbour, Bajamar seafront’s wide open-air pool is surrounded by a sun-facing lounger area, and features spectacular views out to sea. The resort also offers easy access to the nearby beach, and to walking routes through the Anagar Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop to all guests, and a great day out exploring for adventurous visitors. With a little exploring you’ll also find a natural rockpool just a few minutes from the two man-made pools; just like swimming in the sea, but without the currents and waves, meaning you can just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings!
Lago Martianez
The Lago Martianez is a water world of epic proportions, with jacuzzis, splash zones, plunge pools and giant water fountains. The lake-like natural swimming pool features a giant geyser-like water fountain, spanning the width of the pool from, while the rest of the complex promises a variety of fun and exciting features to discover, including waterfalls, caves to swim through, and sculptures to play on and dive from. Adults can try the spa treatment pool available and the pirate-ship bar, situated on an island in the middle of the pool!
Siam Park
Siam Park is a wet and wild adventure park, with white-knuckle rides, flumes and plunger slides, promising a thrilling afternoon out in a tropical paradise. Top rides include: the Tower of Power, a 28-metre drop into an aquarium; the Dragon, an adrenaline-pumping group dinghy speed slide; and the Mekong Rapids, a white-water rapid experience that will leave you screaming as you twist and turn through the course. A more relaxed afternoon can be found in the rivers and pools throughout the park, where you can grab a dinghy and a drink and just laze on the water, enjoying the beautiful Thai-inspired gardens and markets. Siam Park is a stones throw from the popular resort of Costa Adeje. If you’d like to know more about holidays to Costa Adeje see here
The Rock Pools of Garachio
Garachio’s volcanic rock pools are a different kind of water feature, as while they do connect to the sea in some places, there’s such a huge variation in the size and shapes of the pools that you can easily avoid the waves and find a beautifully calm area to lie back in. Bottomless pools offer some fantastic diving experiences, while younger family members can explore the shallow pools and keep an eye out for crabs and colourful tropical fish around the rocks. Find a cove to sit in, and allow the mini carp to nibble on your toes, for a Tenerife holiday treatment you might pay hundreds for elsewhere!
Crab Island
The natural pools of Los Gigantes are referred to as Crab Island for their natural landscape – and the occasional crab! The pools are some of the widest and deepest on the island, creating beautiful swimming and bathing areas, and boasting stunning views. Created with volcanic rock, they blend into the landscape and provide a fantastic alternative to the beach, and as they are hidden from the central tourist trail, they are generally quieter than the nearby beach front!
