Touring italy in 10 days

Italy is one of the most sought after destinations for many tourists and is one of the most charming countries. Here you can breathe history, art and magic. That is why in this post we talk about the places to visit in Italy in 10 days that will not leave you indifferent.

This 19th century shopping arcade houses the most famous stores of the city and elegant restaurants. It is also known as the Salon of Milan.  These galleries are a must if you visit Milan during your trip to Italy, in them you will find stores of the most prestigious brands. The harmony and architecture of the Galleria Vittorioo Emanuele II make it a perfect setting for a stroll on the way to Piazza del Duomo.

It is a Gothic cathedral with hints of the Lombard tradition, of great beauty and located in the center of the city. Its construction lasted five centuries and it is noteworthy that the entire outside of the cathedral is covered with pinkish-white marble.

If you have time to spare during your stay in Verona we recommend that you also visit the Roman amphitheater Arena di Verona and if you can see any of the works it offers, the Piazza delle Erbe, the oldest square in Verona and on the hill of Castel San Pietro, which offers spectacular views from the best viewpoint in Verona.

Continue the route by car, now already in the Chianti region, famous for its wines. In the afternoon you will arrive in Florence and you will have time to stroll through its historic center. Book a hotel to spend the night in Florence. For dinner we will recommend a real gem: a local restaurant, very good and cheap.

The route continues this day to Venice. For this, you can continue with the rental car but we recommend you to go by train (in the Detailed Route we will give you the website and directions so you can book it without problems). Upon arrival you will have time to visit St. Mark’s Square and surroundings. Overnight in Venice.

Recommended route to stroll through the most emblematic neighborhoods of Venice: San Polo, Dorsoduro and Santa Croce. Night in Venice.  We will recommend several local restaurants, especially to try the “cicchetti”, Venetian tapas bars very famous among the locals but unknown to most tourists!

This route starts in Rome and ends in Venice, because this way the round trip flights will be cheaper for you. You can always do it the other way around, following the directions of the Detailed Route in the opposite direction.

Italy in 12 days

What we do have clear is that traveling to Italy on your own is a before and after in the travel experiences of any foreigner who chooses this corner of the world. We do not know a single person who has not loved it. We came back completely in love with its people, its food and its cities. Shall we start?

We recommend the car option, only if you are going to make a route through nearby countries such as Croatia or France. Keep in mind that parking in cities like Milan, Florence or Venice can cost you a lot of money, since the downtown area is restricted to vehicles or is payable.

The big question you will ask yourself when organizing a trip to Italy. As always, it will depend on the days you have available and what you want to see, but we believe that 7/8 days is the minimum you need to enjoy this Mediterranean country.

To travel around Italy we recommend using the train, it is the best option. The stations are located in the center of the cities, besides being a comfortable and inexpensive transport. Calculate that a trip between Milan and Venice has a price of about 20 euros in modern high-speed trains. Check prices and availability on the Trenitalia website.
