I already told you in my article on what to see in Italy in 30 days, many of these places, but this time I will focus on the most interesting regions. So, you will not necessarily have to make a long route, but I give you the option to make short trips to its different regions.

It’s close, it’s spectacular and you’ll be able to see it better than ever, without the hordes of tourists that usually make it more difficult to visit. While they still keep the borders closed with other non-EU countries, it is the best way to get close and see the best places to visit in Italy.

Beyond the must-sees like St. Mark’s Basilica or the Rialto Bridge, I recommend you to wander around Venice. Moving away from this area, where there are always people, you will find other equally beautiful, full of bridges, canals and historic buildings, but completely empty.

Emilia Romagna unjustly goes unnoticed as it is located between Veneto and Tuscany, two of the most touristic regions in Italy. However, it is another truly amazing region for a getaway.

Cities to visit in italy in summer

Continue the route by car, now in the Chianti region, famous for its wines. In the afternoon you will arrive in Florence and you will have time to stroll through its historic center. Book your hotel for the night in Florence. For dinner we will recommend a real gem: a local restaurant, very good and cheap.

The route continues this day to Venice. For this, you can continue with the rental car but we recommend you to go by train (in the Detailed Route we will give you the website and directions so you can book it without problems). Upon arrival you will have time to visit St. Mark’s Square and surroundings. Overnight in Venice.

Recommended route to stroll through the most emblematic neighborhoods of Venice: San Polo, Dorsoduro and Santa Croce. Night in Venice.  We will recommend several local restaurants, especially to try the “cicchetti”, Venetian tapas bars very famous among the locals but unknown to most tourists!

Recommended route to visit the historic center of Milan. At the end take the train to Santa Margherita Ligure. Spend the afternoon in the beautiful village of Portofino. Overnight in Santa Margherita Ligure.
