Italy to Greece by train
Indice
Hi we are planning a big trip with three girlfriends and we want to stay at least 3 days in Santorini. We would leave from Rome or Sicily…I am looking at that topic. The date is date is end of August 2011.
1 It is possible to do a day trip to Athens from Santorini but if you travel on the fast (and more expensive) ferry; otherwise it is 7 hours one way and 7 hours return. In Athens you could only see the Acropolis, which is in the Placa district, it is the most known, what everyone wants to see, although Athens has more. And an excursion to Delphi and/or Meteora is always recommended.
3 In Santorini I can not recommend a place to go out at night except its capital: Thira (Fira). It has numerous restaurants and also some bars and discos but not at the level that Mykonos can be.
