To travel to Greece is to travel to one of the most complete countries in Europe in terms of activities that can be done because it has everything, full of history and incredible landscapes. It has thousands of paradisiacal islands in the Mediterranean and has a multitude of archaeological areas and palaces.

If you are a good sun lover you can not miss a visit to its wonderful beaches. The most beautiful ones are found among its multitude of islands, standing out for their crystalline waters. Greece is one of the most famous countries for its set of islands, exceeding 2,000 islands, although there are only about 200 inhabited islands.

And among its 15,000 kilometers of coastline we find beaches of all types of sand and lengths. Beaches surrounded by cliffs, forests and white houses that combined with its blue tone gives us an impressive image.

One of the islands that has several of the best beaches in Greece is the island of Crete. Here you can find the famous beach of Elafonisi or the impressive lagoon of Balos, one of the most spectacular beaches.

Guide to Greece

Athens: Travel GuideAre you planning a trip to the capital of Greece? These 6,000 words are much more than the typical compilations or tourist guides to Athens that you will find on any Greek national tourism website or tour operator. This is not a list of TOP sights and visits to do in the city. At least not only that.

3Lose yourself in the colorful alleys of the Plaka neighborhood – Although it is the most touristy neighborhood of the city and is usually crowded with tourists and locals, that does not detract one iota of its charm. Many of its streets are pedestrian and are lined with beautiful neoclassical buildings where part of the high society lives. Some of the best taverns, cafes and restaurants in the city are located there. The Athenians know it and that is why it is their usual meeting place.

4Go in to see the Parthenon friezes preserved in the Acropolis Museum – Not all of them (since the British Museum has most of them), but all of them. For me it is one of the most interesting visits and one that will help you understand the trajectory of the sacred rock throughout history. The original sculptures of the caryatids of the Erechtheion are also exhibited here, while the ones you will see in the Acropolis are a recreation. If you have time I advise you to stop at their cafeteria and have a drink on the terrace with direct views of the Acropolis.
