Paris is the city of love, and an enchanting place! Stroll under the famous Eiffel Tower and sip a glass of wine on the banks of the Seine River. You can shop in the elegant boutiques of the Champs Elysées during the day and visit the Paris Opera House at night.
The city is a paradise for culture lovers who can spend days touring the wonderful collection of the Louvre Museum. Be sure to visit the Montmartre district, where famous painters such as Picasso, Dali and Van Gogh used to work. Day trains: TGV, AVE, Eurostar, Thalys, Lyria and Thello, as well as Intercités on certain routes, require a reservation. Most Intercités and all TER (regional trains) can be used without a reservation.
France has an extensive network that includes many high-speed lines. The most important lines depart from Paris and connect the capital with all regions of the country. On these lines there are fast and frequent services. On other lines that do not run through Paris, service is not as frequent and travel times tend to be longer. High-speed TGV trains run on the most important lines, connecting Paris with Marseille, Nice, Lyon, Bordeaux and Strasbourg among others. As TGV trains are reservation-only, we recommend that you use them only for long distances and travel on regional trains for short distances.
