The best time to travel to France is from April to June and from September to November. On the plus side, there are fewer visitors and temperatures are moderate compared to the sweltering summer weather. If skiing is your thing, enjoy the ski resorts from December through April.
February falls in the middle of the ski season, so expect the resorts to be quite crowded with families traveling during school vacations. While temperatures in the Alps reach below freezing, in the rest of the country the average is 5 °C (41 °F). Many couples travel to Paris for Valentine’s Day, but there is so much more to do in February.
As spring arrives, the warmer weather becomes conducive to cultural events and celebrations. The days can be quite warm, but the nights are chilly, so dress in layers to stay warm. Bring an umbrella if you go to the capital in May because, during this month, Paris is the rainiest city and Nice the driest.

The first clarification to talk about the best time to travel to France is that I would make a great distinction between the northern and southern climates. While in the north in winter the cold is more intense and the summers are mild with cool to warm temperatures, very different can be the center and south with its Mediterranean climate on the coast.
Undoubtedly, the best time to visit the north of France is in summer, as temperatures tend to be more temperate. Paris can be very hot in summer if we coincide with the weeks of summer heat wave. On the other hand, the rest of the summer and the seasons in between can be pleasant. And in winter, it is not unusual for our trip to coincide with days close to zero degrees or directly with snow. However, as perfection does not exist, the days of summer, and especially August, will coincide with the vacations of the French themselves: occupancy and prices in all summer resorts soar.
