What to see in Clermont-FerrandCathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l’AssomptionThe first thing that catches your attention and you will see from afar is the cathedral, the jewel in the crown. It is an imposing building, not only for its dimensions, but also for its dark color, because it is built with Volvic stone, a volcanic rock. Admission is free.
NextBasilique Notre-Dame du PortIt is a Romanesque building located in the Port District. This area has an air with the Born of Barcelona, many craft stores, street art and a more artistic atmosphere. This basilica is also one of the individual properties that are part of the Caminos De Santiago in France. We couldn’t go inside because they were celebrating a mass, but we walked around it and it is beautiful.
Musée BargoinNext to the Jardin Lecoq and facing the Pyramid fountain, located in a beautiful neoclassical building in the center of the city, is the Bargoin museum. It houses two departments: one dedicated to archeology and the other to textiles from the 18th to the 21st century. It is free on the first Sunday of each month. We leave you the rates here.
Lonely Journey book
Sun, Mediterranean, cicadas and the smell of olive trees: that’s the image that comes to mind when we mention the Côte d’Azur. This destination is full of treasures to discover during a stay of at least two weeks.
The Côte d’Azur, also known as the French Riviera, is the Mediterranean coastline in the extreme southeast of France. There is no official boundary, but it is generally considered to extend from Toulon, Le Lavandou or Saint-Tropez, in the west, to Menton, on the border between France and Italy, in the east.
If the city of Cannes is famous for its fine sandy beaches, its restaurants and its luxury stores, it also has a preserved and quiet historic district, called Le Suquet. In these narrow streets, accessible by stairs, you can admire the typical old houses.
On the beaches of Cannes you can practice many water sports: skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, scuba diving, etc.. A catamaran trip on the blue waters of the Mediterranean will leave you with unforgettable memories of your vacation in the Alpes-Maritimes.
French Riviera cities
Although the route through the Côte d’Azur can include many places, if it is your first time in the area, I recommend you to spend at least a week in order to visit the most famous cities and make the occasional trip to the surrounding villages.
Lemon production is abundant in this region and they even celebrate a festival in February dedicated to it. Menton surprised me pleasantly, it is a beautiful city, with a warm and friendly atmosphere that is worth visiting.
One of the cities to see in the French Riviera is undoubtedly Nice. One of the most popular destinations for local and foreign tourists. It enjoys a pleasant tropical climate, beaches with crystal clear waters and a beautiful historic center.
We started our tour of Nice at the Place Massena, which is located in the center of the city. It was built in 1840 and there we saw the famous Statue of Apollo, imposing with its 7 meters high and completely made of white marble.
Then we went for a walk along the Promenade des Anglais (“Promenade des Anglais” in French), a 7 km promenade that was once a favorite tourist destination for the English during the winter months, and today is a place of rest, recreation and sport for locals and tourists.
