Instead of molecular tests, travelers may opt for “rapid tests” which represent a cheaper and more accessible alternative. These must be carried out the day prior to arrival in the country.
It is important to note that Canada will reinstate the random testing surveillance program. However, those who are fully vaccinated, and are selected, will not need to quarantine while awaiting test results.

Please note that due to the improved epidemiological situation, these requirements were relaxed on April 1. On this day, the requirement to be tested for the virus before traveling to Canada if you are vaccinated against coronavirus was removed.
Unfortunately, we can already speak of a 7th wave of coronavirus in Canada due to new subvariants. Even so, it does not seem that local governments are going to implement any measures other than trying to keep the population vaccinated.
On the other hand, since June 20, it is no longer necessary to show the vaccination certificate to move within the country. The use of face masks is still mandatory in trains and airplanes. The need to be vaccinated to travel to Canada may soon be eliminated, but, for now, this remains the case.

In addition, you will also be protected in case you contract coronavirus during your trip to Canada, so we will be there for you if you need to be hospitalized, but also if you need to be tested for the virus or quarantined.
Traveling without vaccinations: These countries eliminated sanitary requirements
Tests must be done no later than 24 hours before the scheduled arrival of the flight or arrival at the land border, Minister Duclos said. Travelers will also still be able to submit a PCR test, if they wish to do so. In this case, the test must be done no later than 72 hours prior to arrival in Canada.
However, properly vaccinated travelers could be selected for a random PCR test upon arrival at the airport, the minister said. They should not, however, be isolated until they receive their test result, as is currently the case.
The measures I announced today only affect people who are vaccinated. The conditions under which these people can travel have indeed been relaxed and adapted. But for the unvaccinated, nothing changes.
This means that they will not have to isolate themselves before attending school, day care or camp again. Nor will they have to undergo a test or comply with other specific border requirements, Duclos explained.
