There are a variety of options available to U.S. citizens who wish to obtain proof of their lack of a criminal record, however, it is advisable to check with the requesting entity what type of document they are requiring. If you are being asked for a criminal background check, you can contact the National Security Agency, if the entity is requesting a state-level criminal background check, it is necessary to contact the FBI directly.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) centralizes criminal justice information and provides its services and accurate and timely information to local, state, federal, international federal agencies, the private sector and other government agencies.
The FBI will not provide copies of arrest records to third parties. Remember that the Ecuadorian entity may request that the criminal background check be apostilled, if this is the case, please remember that the Embassy or Consulate cannot do apostilles and this procedure will have to be done in the United States. When you make a reservation for services that cross the U.S.-Canada border, you must provide certain information, such as date of birth, gender, country of citizenship and detailed information about the type of identification you will be carrying on your trip. Other conditions apply.
Passengers traveling from Vancouver, BC must arrive at least one hour prior to departure for border crossing processing. In locations such as Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON, passengers should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure. For those passengers who are not citizens of the United States or Canada, it is recommended that they arrive more than one hour prior to departure to complete additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing.
Non-U.S. citizens entering the country must also complete the I-94 Arrival Record and pay a $6 fee. If you choose to complete the entire process on board the train, you must have $6 in cash, in U.S. currency (the exact amount), to submit with the form.

The procedures to enter Canadian territory for a tourist stay of less than 6 months can be done directly through the Internet. It is not necessary to obtain an appointment at the Canadian Embassy, just apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
The tourist visa in Canada allows you to meet the conditions of entry to Canada. Despite obtaining a tourist visa, entry to the territory will always be subject to the final agreement of a Canadian border police officer. Obtaining a tourist visa in Canada does not guarantee entry into Canadian territory.
