All international visitors are required to have a valid passport to enter Canada. Visitors from the United States, the British Commonwealth and most Western European countries are exempt from visa requirements for stays of up to 180 days. Visitors from more than 130 other countries do require a visa.
It is important to note that visa-exempt visitors traveling to Canada by air must present an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). This requirement does not apply to U.S. citizens or those with a valid Canadian visa.
Almost all establishments in Canada accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards. You can also request a cash advance on your credit cards at any of the available ATMs, for which there is usually an additional fee. Please note that many credit cards often convert charges made abroad by applying additional fees and unfavorable exchange rates.

The type of clothing to bring to Canada varies depending on the season in which you are going to study. For summer you can bring the same clothes you normally wear. For winter you will need additional cold weather clothing. We recommend that you find out the temperatures before you travel.
You can buy Canadian dollars from your home country to bring some cash for your first days in Canada. It is best to bring credit or debit cards and withdraw money from an ATM whenever you need cash. This way you don’t carry all the money you will need during your time studying in Canada.
For many, it is unthinkable to travel without a laptop. If you have a laptop or tablet, don’t hesitate to bring them. If you plan to buy a new one, then leave yours at home and take the opportunity to buy one in Canada because they are possibly cheaper.
