It is important to keep in mind that the pandemic situation is changeable and the Russian authorities, as well as those of third countries, may change regulations without prior notice.    Therefore, it is the traveler’s responsibility to check with the Russian embassy and countries of stopover before making travel decisions.

It is also advisable to verify the pandemic situation before making a decision to travel, as well as to have sufficient resources to face flight delays or cancellations (both for the eventuality of having to purchase new tickets, as well as to cover unforeseen expenses for lodging and food for a stay beyond the originally planned).

It is very important to have a comprehensive medical insurance that covers the necessary care and to verify that it is valid in the Russian Federation, since private medical service is very expensive, especially in cases of hospitalization. Remember that tourists are not entitled to free medical service.

You can travel to russia without a visa

A passport is a mandatory document for anyone wishing to visit Russia. It must be in force (valid for at least 6 months from the date of your return) and with at least 2 contiguous pages without stamps or visas. It must also be in perfect condition: the covers must be attached to the notebook, no pages must be missing and there must be no damage.

The traveler must prove that he/she has taken out full medical insurance, which is included at the time of applying for the visa. This travel insurance must be valid for Russia and offer the widest possible medical coverage to cover any type of contingency, including medical repatriation, if necessary.

Travelers to Russia, in addition to having a valid visa, must complete two additional procedures once in the Russian Federation: the completion of the immigration card at the time of entry into the country and registration with the immigration authorities.

Winter cold does not let up in Russia during February, so bring plenty of warm clothes, gloves, socks and the thickest coat you own. Temperatures are likely to be below freezing in major cities for most of your stay, except in more southerly locations such as Sochi, where it usually averages 6°C (41°F).

By May, the weather in most of Russia (even in some cities in Siberia) is more pleasant after the cold winter and early spring. Flowers are appearing, the days are longer and the calendar of events with parades, holidays and festivals starts to fill up.

Except for sporadic cold snaps, June in Russia is mostly warm during the day and cool at night. However, since St. Petersburg has almost 24 hours of daylight, there is not much difference between day and night, so you should bring extra clothes in case it gets cold.
