Several of the servicemen on the updated list of those sanctioned by the Canadian government belong to the 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian army and were sanctioned months ago by other countries, including members of the European Union.
One of its members, Colonel Andrei Boevich Kurbanov, was identified in early April and included by Ukrainian war crimes activists and investigators in a list of names called the Butchers of Bucha.
Some of Kurbanov’s superiors, such as Colonel Azatbek Asanbekovich Omurbekov, who is the brigade commander, and Lieutenant General Andrey Ivanovich Sychevoy, commander of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army, were included in the list of those sanctioned by Canada last spring.

Actually it is always the same standard document, consisting of 2 parts: a “voucher” (in English or Russian) plus a “confirmation of reception of foreign tourist” = “confirmation of accommodation reservation” = “podtverzhdenie” (in Russian).
