In an initial move toward opening up global travel, the Government of India has reconsidered visa and travel limitations for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders to visit the nation.
In a new request submitted on May 22, 2020, the Union Home Service said the movement limitations forced not too long ago would not be relevant for these classifications that have been excluded for air, ship and train travel and furthermore could go through another vehicle sent to take them back to the nation.
In any case, visa relaxations have wanted OCI cardholders, and it is progressively not usually out of the ordinary for air travel to open up for other visa classifications as well.
The visa limitations imposed by India came when most nations had limited global air travel. With nations coming out of lockdown mode, the administration is keeping a close eye on improvements globally to guarantee that its own demanding visa system does not become a detour in the development of explorers belonging to different classes.

The Constitution of India does not allow dual citizenship. The Government of India (GOI) introduced the OCI Scheme on December 2, 2005. The GOI decided to register Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) of certain category as specified in Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 as Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) Card Holder.
The Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) card program has been withdrawn as of January 9, 2015. Indian immigration checkpoints will continue to consider all valid PIO cards for travel to India until December 31, 2021.
There will be no restrictions for the OCI card holder to travel to/from India during the period from the date of issuance of the new passport to the date of final recognition of their documents in the online system.

“The Government has decided to effect a gradual relaxation in visa and travel restrictions for more categories of foreign nationals and Indian nationals wishing to enter or leave India,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said in an executive order.
This relaxation will allow “all OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) and PIO (Citizens of Indian Origin) card holders, and all other foreign nationals intending to visit India for any reason, except on a tourist visa, to enter by air or sea routes through authorized ports,” it detailed.
Although India maintains the suspension of international commercial flights, this relaxation is valid for people traveling within the framework of the Vande Bharat repatriation mission, or the bilateral agreements under the formula of “air bridges” or “air bubbles” that the nation maintains with almost twenty countries.
Travelers must also comply with the conditions of institutional and home quarantine, or the presentation of a negative PCR certificate, along with other indications from the authorities.
