Best destinations in the world to travel in March

If you’re thinking about cheap vacation spots in the vast South America, you won’t be short of options. What’s more, these destinations offer something that beats any budget: when you land there, you’ll feel like you’re just a few steps away from what we could call paradise.

On the legendary Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America by volume, are the equally mythical Uros Islands. They are artificial islands on the waters of the lake, which Bolivian and Peruvian natives built in the pre-Columbian era for the purpose of habitation. The Uros are supported by reeds, so constant maintenance work is necessary to ensure buoyancy. On these islets, residents fish and hunt birds and, of course, welcome tourists with open arms. The low cost of living, coupled with an extremely rich traditional culture, make the Uros Islands one of the cheap destinations in South America that cannot be missing on your travel bucket list.

One of the perfect cheap destinations in South America to rest and relax completely. In the seaside resort of Cabo Polonio, 260 km from Montevideo, the streets are dirt roads and there is no internet or electricity (although many establishments have their own generator). Access is a bit restricted, usually reached on horseback or by 4×4, but the scenery of virtually deserted beaches, huge dunes and sea lions will make any visitor can do without all the superfluous modernities.

Ushuaia

Welcome to one of the destinations to visit in South America, cheap tourist destination and currently among the favorite attractions in Colombia, where you will have the opportunity to see the starry sky and make wishes every time you see a shooting star pass by.

Its scenic details are perfect for photography lovers, its silence for those seeking a little disconnection, its sky for those who love to contemplate the immensity and perfect for those who want to camp or there are also options of inns and boutique hotels. It accommodates all tastes.

You will pass through Uramba, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero, places that will not only manifest themselves for their mystical, architectural and beautiful scenic legacy, but also for the variety of entertainment you will find, such as hiking, ATV rentals, gampling and ziplining.

It may be a bit far from the Chilean capital (780 km south of Santiago), but it is worth traveling by train to the city of Pucón to explore one of the best areas of the country: Araucanía. Pucon is surrounded by the Villarrica volcano, a magnificent tourist destination in South America, especially for lovers of extreme sports.

Cartagena de Indias

Another option that I really like is the center and south of the country, if instead of the beach you prefer to spend hot summer afternoons at the river (with crystal clear water) then I recommend visiting Cordoba and its different flavors: Villa Carlos Paz, Villa General Belgrano, Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, etc.

My favorite in this case is Villa Carlos Paz, it is the destination par excellence chosen by the most famous plays in the country, the city doubles its population in summer season and has many options and activities for all tastes, from adventure tourism plans (rafting, trekking, etc) to nightlife for the youngest.

There are some destinations that are repeated, for example Bariloche and Villa la Angostura, and this is because during the winter season the whole city is under snow and the ski resorts are filled with national and international tourists.

But undoubtedly the main destination in winter is the south (well south!) of the country: Calafate and Ushuaia. These two destinations have their particular charm and tourists from all over the world go to see, for example, the Perito Moreno glacier (Calafate) or the Lighthouse at the end of the world (Ushuaia).
