When you make a reservation for services crossing the U.S.-Canada border, you must provide certain information, such as date of birth, gender, country of citizenship and detailed information about the type of identification you will be carrying on your trip. Other conditions apply.
Passengers traveling from Vancouver, BC must arrive at least one hour prior to departure for border crossing processing. In locations such as Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON, passengers must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure. For those passengers who are not citizens of the United States or Canada, it is recommended that they arrive more than one hour prior to departure to complete additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing.
Non-U.S. citizens entering the country must also complete the I-94 Arrival Record and pay a $6 fee. To expedite the process, you may prepay the fee and apply online through the U.S. Customs website up to seven (7) days prior to your trip. Then, you will only need to complete the final steps when you are on board. If you choose to complete the entire process on board the train, you must have $6 in cash, in U.S. currency (the exact amount), to submit with the form.
Colombians with U.S. visa can enter Canada
With a valid eTA you can travel to Canada as often as you wish for short stays (usually for periods of up to six months at a time). You do not need an eTA to travel within Canada.
An eTA does not guarantee entry into Canada. When you arrive in Canada, a border services officer will ask to see your passport and other documents. You must convince the officer that you are admissible to enter Canada.
Applying for an eTA is a simple online process that takes only a few minutes. Most applicants get their eTA approval (via email) within minutes. However, some applications may take several days to process if you are asked to send supporting documents. It is best to obtain an eTA before booking your flight to Canada.
When we approve your eTA, the authorization will be linked to the passport you used to make the application. You are required to present that passport when you check in at the airline counter for your flight to Canada.

Requirements to enter Canada by land
Please note that, due to the improvement of the epidemiological situation, these requirements were relaxed on April 1st. On this day, the requirement to be tested for the virus before traveling to Canada was removed if you are vaccinated against coronavirus.
Unfortunately, we can already speak of a 7th wave of coronavirus in Canada due to new subvariants. Even so, it does not seem that local governments are going to implement any measures other than trying to keep the population vaccinated.
On the other hand, since June 20, it is no longer necessary to show the vaccination certificate to move within the country. The use of face masks is still mandatory in trains and airplanes. The need to be vaccinated to travel to Canada may soon be eliminated, but, for now, this remains the case.
Thanks to this policy you will be covered for medical expenses up to 1,000,000 euros. You will have the security of being attended in your language, 24 hours a day and without having to advance money. In addition, you will also be protected in case you contract coronavirus during your trip to Canada, so we will be there for you if you need to be hospitalized, but also if you need to be tested for the virus or quarantined.
