Tourist circuit through South America

During the European summer, between June and August, the weather conditions in Patagonia are extreme. Most treks require special equipment because of snow and ice, and it is necessary to be prepared to fight snow and hail in extreme cold.

In winter the possibility of not being able to leave our lodging due to adverse weather conditions is great. Sometimes we can stay 4 or 5 days waiting for the weather to improve without being able to leave the place.

During the winter in Patagonia, many of the shelters that are set up for lodging during the trekking days are closed due to the snow and cold, however for some it is the favorite season, with no visitors and snow-covered sunrises. There are even those who dare to say that it is the perfect time to trek the Torres del Paine.

The high season in Patagonia, and throughout Argentina and Chile, runs between January and February, with supplements and more difficulty in finding accommodation and transportation. Everywhere there are many more people and the entrance fees to Natural Parks and National Parks are a bit more expensive.    The days are hot and at night it hardly goes below 0º.

The climate in South America is a natural spectacle. The most diverse climates meet here. The reason for this is, first of all, the situation between the two oceans Atlantic and Pacific. Topographical events also play an important role. The altitude or whether it is a coastal region, a desert or a tropical rainforest, also influences the climate. In the South American areas of the Amazon, Patagonia, the Andes and the Atacama Desert, very different climates prevail. Therefore, I now show you an overview of the climate in the different areas of South America.

When to travel to costa rica

If you are wondering when is summer in South America or when to avoid winter, you should know that defining a single season to visit this continent is totally impossible. The continent is so wide that there are several different climates. There are almost 7000 km from end to end, so basically it is like trying to summarize the climate between northern Finland and southern Ethiopia.

The first thing you should know is that Bolivia is in the southern hemisphere, which means that the seasons are reversed: winter in Europe is summer there and vice versa. So if you follow the advice of chronology, the best time to go is in May. The weather is good, it’s warm and not crowded.

Bolivia is an essential stop on a trip through Latin America. You will come across the incredible Salar de Uyuni, impressive lagoons and volcanoes in the Sajama National Park, the beautiful city of Sucre or the impressive La Paz. A trip to Bolivia is all this at once, incredible landscapes that you will think are from another planet and that will probably mark you forever. If you want to know more about what to see and visit on your trip to Bolivia, after reading this, you will already have it a little clearer.
