Atacama Desert A landscape that looks like something out of Mars. The Atacama Desert, in northern Chile, is the driest non-polar desert on Earth. It is a geographical space delimited on one side by the Pacific Ocean and on the other by the Andes. It is an area rich in mining; but it attracts world tourism for its landscapes, for a certain mysticism related to the ancestral cultures that inhabited it, and also for the sky: it is the best place on the planet to observe the firmament.
