If your little darlings are all grown up – or at least think they are – but you still want them to come on your family holiday with you, it’s time to break out some trips that will tempt your teens. It can be a difficult time for families, as your children prepare themselves to fly the nest, but you could still enjoy a holiday for the family photo album, with a little careful planning. Check out this list of top teen-friendly holidays and see if you can spot one to tempt your young adults.
Explore The Southern Hemisphere
Yes it’s expensive to get a family there, but a trip around Australia or New Zealand will definitely go down as one of the most unforgettable family holidays you’ve ever had. Flights to New Zealand and Australia also tend to have one stopover, usually in Asia or the Middle East, allowing another posibility for adventure along the way.
Living it up in Las Vegas
Las Vegas may strike you as a particularly adult destination, but it’s selection of themed hotels and extravagant activities means there’s plenty for teenagers to enjoy too. Take a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon or a jeep ride across the desert and you’re sure to pique the interest of even the most sullen teenager. There are also plenty of scary fair rides, indoor race car circuits and rows of arcade machines to make sure you can guarantee they’ll have something to do while you lounge by the pool.
Sail around the Caribbean
Show your teenager a whole different world by setting out on a tall ship tour of the Caribbean. These luxurious boats offer plenty of entertainments, from on-board pools and games, to off-board adventures such as snorkelling, and the whole family is sure to love the chance to stop off and explore some of the most intriguing and unique islands in the Caribbean. What’s more, when you’re all staying on the one ship, you can rest assured there’s only so much trouble your kids can get up to.
Get up close to big cats in Kenya
For a holiday trip that’s sure to make your teens sit up and take notice, book a visit to Kenya. Introduce them to a different culture and some amazing wildlife. A 4×4 safari in the Masai Mara or a stay in a tree top hotel is sure to give them enough thrills and spills to keep them entertained, as well as some great stories to tell back home.
Most of all, make sure your teenager knows that even if you book cheap flights and hotels, your holiday is something you’ve put a lot of time and money into – and its up to them to be adult enough to make the most of it.
