As you plan your trip to Zambia, you may wonder if you need a Zambia visa to enter the country. This article takes a closer look at the travel documents required for travel to Zambia and explains how to apply for your electronic visa (eVisa, e-visa, e visa…).

Regardless of your visa requirements for Zambia, you may be required to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate. According to the International Health Regulations, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from a country where there is a risk of yellow fever transmission, or if you have spent more than 12 hours in transit through a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. The list of countries requiring a certificate can be found on the World Health Organization website.

Citizens of Argentina traveling for BUSINESS, may obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 30 days. Consultants and other experts entering Zambia to conduct business with an organization in Zambia may obtain a visa at the port of entry. A “business” visitor must present a letter of invitation from the invited institution. Business visits by a single individual may not exceed 30 days in a 12-month period.

The WHO declares Zambia a Yellow Fever free country. Travelers coming from Zambia to South Africa or Botswana will no longer be required to present a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, as was previously the case.

Most cases can be successfully treated by prompt administration of oral rehydration salts. Severely dehydrated patients should be given intravenous fluids as well as appropriate antibiotics to shorten the duration of diarrhea.

Patients with very severe dehydration are treated with intravenous fluids, preferably Ringer’s lactate. Severe cases may be given appropriate antibiotics to reduce the duration of diarrhea and the volume of rehydration fluids needed, as well as to shorten the period of Vibrio cholerae excretion.

Administration of the prequalified vaccine is not recommended once a cholera outbreak has already been declared, since it requires two doses, the interval needed to achieve protective efficacy is relatively long, and its use requires large logistical means.

Cook food thoroughly and eat it while it is hot. Fish and shellfish are one of the main sources of cholera infection, eat them only if they are well cooked. All foods grown at ground level should also be cooked.

Unlike most destinations, night safaris are allowed in the national parks, providing a great opportunity to spot nocturnal species. When thinking about traveling to Zambia, keep in mind that there is a long distance between the parks and the roads are in poor condition, so we suggest flying between camps.

The beautiful riverside lodges in Livingstone are ideal to end or start your safari, from here you can enjoy Victoria Falls, cruise the Zambezi or fall asleep to the roar of the hippos.

Sara and Jordi have not yet had the opportunity to explore the Zambian camps beyond Livingstone but through our trusted and knowledgeable industry correspondents we ensure that the lodges chosen for your safari are located in the most spectacular areas of the country and offer a comfortable, memorable and authentic safari experience.
