Backpacking in Africa
Hi, I am thinking of traveling alone to South Africa in January 2018. While I am used to move alone in my travels, I would like to know if this destination is suitable for this modality. I would also like to know if it is convenient for me to enter through Cape Town or Johannesburg, in short, how to organize the tour, prices since I do not have much budget, places and accommodations that you can recommend. I can’t thank you enough for the information! Best regards. Adriana
Thank you Rodrigo! I think I’m going to use that service. I always organize my trips myself and that’s why I can’t make up my mind about the travel agency. We will see! It will be my first foray alone in Africa! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer!!!
The trick is this: Avis pretends to rent a vehicle with driver (chauffeur), since the transfer service inside the park is not authorized, except for those who go to the private lodges inside the park.
– Take a flight to Krugger from Porth Elizabeth. The idea is to spend 4/5 nights at Krugger. I am listening to suggestions for camps, but it would be skukuza, satara, olifants and then I wonder if I should go to letaba, or spend a day in a private lodge like timbavati.

Travel route through Africa
If you are a citizen of another country and want to travel to South Africa, then you need a visa. The “visitor” visa is for international travelers permanently residing outside of South Africa. It is also for those who wish to visit the country on a more temporary basis for tourism or business purposes. But it does not last forever. Once you get it, the visa is valid for no more than 90 days.
So, now you are in the country. While you are here, the visa is considered a visitor’s permit. The period of validity of the permit is counted from the date you arrived and will be stated under the heading “conditions” on the visa label.
It is important to make sure you apply for the correct visa or permit. Otherwise, entry into the country may be refused if the purpose of the visit is not stated correctly.
Depending on where you are from, visa requirements differ from country to country and are subject to change. Each application is treated as an individual case, so you should inquire at the nearest South African consulate or mission abroad or any Department of Home Affairs office to see if you are even supposed to apply for a visa.
