If you are a citizen of another country and want to travel to South Africa, then you need a visa. The “visitor” visa is for international travelers who reside permanently outside of South Africa. It is also for those who wish to visit the country on a more temporary basis for tourism or business purposes. But it does not last forever. Once you get it, the visa is valid for no more than 90 days.
So, now you are in the country. While you are here, the visa is considered a visitor’s permit. The period of validity of the permit is counted from the date you arrived and will be stated under the heading “conditions” on the visa label.
It is important to make sure that you apply for the correct visa or permit. Otherwise, you may be refused entry into the country if the purpose of the visit is not stated correctly.
Depending on where you are from, visa requirements differ from country to country and are subject to change. Each application is treated as an individual case, so you should inquire at the nearest South African consulate or mission abroad or any Department of Home Affairs office to see if you are even supposed to apply for a visa.

Uruguay will allocate 200,000 doses of the U.S. Pfizer vaccine to foreign tourists as of December 1, date on which they will be able to get an appointment for its administration, announced Friday the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado.
At a press conference held at the Executive Tower, headquarters of the Uruguayan Government, together with the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, Delgado explained that the availability of vaccines for non-residents was opened when the Executive of Luis Lacalle Pou (center-right) guaranteed the necessary amount for the country’s citizens.
A maximum of 4 visitors per household is advised and teleworking is encouraged during full working hours. The measures will come into force in the early hours of Sunday morning and will be applied until December 18, although the Executive will announce earlier whether the measures will be lifted or maintained or reinforced during Christmas, based on the epidemiological situation.
The Ministry of Health has reported 9,912 new infections on this day, an increase compared to Thursday, when it recorded 9,258 positives, a figure not seen since the beginning of September.

Berlin (dpa) – The Länder are relying mainly on doctors in private practices and vaccination centers to administer the new vaccines adapted to the omicron variant, but do not expect a high demand from patients. This is the result of a survey conducted by Deutsche Presse-Agentur among the German federal states. In the two weeks starting Monday, some 14 million doses of the BA.1 preparation from Biontech/Pfizer and Moderna are expected to arrive.
Mainz (dpa) – Biontech will start supplying its coronavirus vaccine adapted to combat the omicron variant in a few days’ time, following approval by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which is expected shortly.
The EMA is also looking at a vaccine from the Mainz-based company and its U.S. partner Pfizer against coronavirus adapted to the current omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5. Biontech is submitting the final documents to the EMA, Sahin told Der Spiegel. “Approval can take place very quickly, also in this case,” he added.
