LANDING AT PARIS FRANCE AIRBUS A380-800 AIR

Thanks to the development of the country compared to most countries on the African continent, South Africa has very good communication with the rest of the world and easy access by all known means of transport.

It is the most used way to reach the country both through national and international airports.  It has two major international airports located in the two most important cities of the country: OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport in Cape Town. These airports are the main gateway to the country and were renovated for the World Cup in 2010.

Air France will progressively increase its capacity to and from the US, where it operates to 11 destinations (New York JFK, Boston, Washington DC, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles) with up to 100 weekly flights.

By March 2022, Air France expects to return to a capacity equivalent to approximately 90% of its 2019 capacity to and from the U.S., up from 50% in summer 2019, by adding frequencies to key destinations such as New York, Miami or Los Angeles, and through the use of larger capacity aircraft.

On its long-haul network, Air France will also connect Paris-Orly to Saint Martin with 3 weekly flights, effective December 4, 2021. This service will be in addition to flights departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, with a total of 10 weekly flights operated to this destination.

Brazil, the United States, Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom are among those imposing restrictions on flights and travelers from six African countries after the new strain, known as variant B.1.1.529, was detected in South Africa, Botswana and in a visitor to Hong Kong from South Africa.

While only dozens of cases have been identified so far, news of the variant, which has about twice as many mutations as the delta variant, is already sparking fears around the world.

In the hours since, Japan has tightened border controls for travelers from the same six countries, introducing a 10-day quarantine from 12 a.m. Nov. 27.

Meanwhile, Germany plans to declare South Africa a “virus variant area” as of this Friday night, which will mean that airlines will only be able to enter from the country to repatriate German citizens.
